Welcome to the Lion’s Den online application.

If you are a South African Lebanese youth with a unique business idea or invention looking for capital to get your idea off the ground please fill out the form below. The best applications will be shortlisted by a selection panel and the applicants will be contacted to participate as contestants in SALCOC’s first ever Lion’s Den competition in Johannesburg. Contestants will be required to present their business proposals, in person, before a panel of 5 investors (called Lions). The Lions will decide whether or not to invest in your business ideas/inventions, how much they will invest (whether whole or in part), and what stake they want in your business in return for their investment.

The total investment amount available for this round of the competition is TBD. Therefore, your requested investment amount in the form below cannot exceed this cap.

Please note that SALCOC, as the host of the Lion’s Den, is merely a facilitator, and will not be held liable for the agreements or negotiations entered into (or not entered into) between the contestants and the investors.

Please clearly state what your business idea or invention is and explain it in detail below, or submit a document with the aforementioned information.
Please ensure that your idea is unique and is not at risk of any copyright or patent infringements, or any other intellectual property law infringements.

Please submit a detailed business proposal. Please ensure that it includes:

A title page,
table of contents,
executive summary,
a statement of the problem,
the issue or the job at hand,
your approach and methodology,
your qualifications,
a schedule and benchmarks (or milestones),
the cost of the idea,
payments, legal matters (if any), and
the benefits.

Please submit a financial model for your business proposal. To give you an idea, a financial model should include:

Historical financial data,
assumptions about the future,
projections of the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and
supporting schedules like depreciation and amortization.
It may also incorporate scenarios and sensitivity analyses to explore different outcomes.

Please take note of the investment cap stated at the beginning of this form. The investment amount requested cannot exceed that cap.

Please state what percentage of your business or your invention you are willing to sell in return for the investment amount that you have requested.

Indemnities

I consent to SALCOC being in possession of, and processing, my personal information.

I acknowledge that my application may not be selected, and hereby indemnify SALCOC against any and all loss, damage, cost and/or expense that I may sustain by virtue of my participation in this initiative how so ever arising, of whatsoever nature.

I hereby waive any and all claims which I may have against SALCOC.
