John Shalala

John completed his articles at Ernst & Young in Johannesburg and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

After completing his articles, John joined Malbak Motor Holdings and thereafter went on to form SMME Financial Services, which provided a range of accounting, taxation and advisory services. John now runs Jetline, a leading South African visual communications, multimedia, educational publishing, digital marketing and print company.

John is dedicated to his Lebanese heritage and is actively involved in the Maronite church and Lebanese community. Committed to helping the community preserve their Lebanese identity, John successfully launched the South African Chapter of the Maronite Foundation. 

The Maronite Foundation’s primary purpose is to plan, execute, implement and assist South African Maronites in facilitating their contact with the Lebanese public offices to assist them with gaining their Lebanese citizenship. The Chapter has become well known and is very successful at registering Lebanese for their citizenship, helping the community hold on to their roots and preserve their rights.
